I did some saw work on some slabs that I haven't bothered with for some time. I got a Morrisonite scrap about 6mm that had a nice side that would grind off so I worked on the other side even though the scene wasn't as good. I ran into vugs and since I'm stubborn I kept grinding until I got to a 2mm flat top that still had some small vugs but looked like the bottom. I polished it, flipped it and did a flat top and polished the face which is clean. This is the piece that my wife wanted me to toss. I get a cab but spent too much time. I took the 8mm 'good' piece, drew a shield on it, made a preform and started grinding. The first thing that happened was the nose fractured but just outside the line. I was almost done with the 280 soft and then: I've worked on a lot of Morrisonite and hardly ever get a surprise fracture I worked on two thick Morgan Hills which were kind of disappointing, rushed finishing them and now I need to go back to 325.

You had "one of those days" didn't you. Should have stayed in bed. Though the Morgan Hill should be nice.

That Morrisonite is a real heartbreak. Was it intended as a double-sided cab? It looks like both sides might be domed.

The one that broke was a single sided high dome. The thin one is polished on both sides.
