Here's some more out of the latest batch. Anyone who's tired of looking let me know, there's still more... Snowflake Obsidian, really happy with the way they turned out. Mahogany Obsidian- I'm happy with the shine but I'm not afraid of showing my failures. Some ended up with pits. I may try to redo them, I may not. And I noticed something I've never noticed before. When I hold the mahogany cabs up to the light there are perfectly clear parts of the stone. Just thought it was cool. And this agate that I received from manofglass . I can't remember the name right now. I really love how they turned out. The heart undercut a bit on the left side- I may try and hide that when I wrap it. As always, thanks for looking! Mike

Those all turned out very nice (I hope you can hide the wiggle in the side of the agate heart). When I hold the mahogany cabs up to the light there are perfectly clear parts of the stone. Got yourself a piece of "double-flow" mahogany obsidian there. I find that (along with lace and triple-flow) among the more fascinating types.

All of those mahogany cabs had that to some degree. I'll have to look up lace and triple-flow. I've tumbled mahogany before but of course couldn't see through them, these are the first cabs I've finished with it.

Did you mix the agate and the obsidian? What kind of tumbler are you using?

Did you mix the agate and the obsidian? What kind of tumbler are you using? Yes, ma'am, I did. It was a mixed tumble in my rotary tumbler (33b). I can't swear, however, that those small pits in the mahogany weren't there before I moved them on. I used a ton of plastic for cushioning- they may well have been.

I have a fairly large rough piece I cannot wait to cut. I also have tumbled some slabs/preforms from Walt and have more in waiting.

I've got a couple of 33B that are offline, what mesh size did you start with in this load? I should get back to tumbling, but its SO messy!

Actually after they're dremeled I put them in with my regular tumbles, 80 grit, for about a week or until I'm satisfied that any scratches/pits are removed.
