I've been collecting for a few years, mostly chalcedony and other minerals that occur in my area. My first tumbler is on its maiden voyage as I type so I'm a rookie lapidary artist. Patience hasn't been my strong suit so I've been opening it up and looking at the progress way too often.
Cheers to all and thanks for sharing your knowledge here!

Welcome from New Jersey. I just started as well and the temptation to open them early is overwhelming, but it seems to be wearing off a little more, due to the work and mess in checking the rocks and trying to save the grit in the barrel. It’s much easy and cleaner to wait and just be able to dump the whole batch and clean them and continue from there, rather than trying to clean them off and continue using the same grit. That 60/90 grit goes fast enough, with how many times you have to keep running the first stage over and over.
