Curious what area of the San Jacinto River bed were those collected........Near the Soboba Springs, Gilman Springs area, or Upland Game Hunting Area, or further S/E near Valle Vista........the only areas I'm familiar with that maintain continuous surface water transitions.......outside of the River trail head at a much higher elevation near Saddle Junction on the San Jacinto Mtn............if this is the Southern California San Jacinto region.........?

I am still puzzled as to how those various agates got to SE Texas. I do need to get back over there, hour from the house. Henry

Were it that close to me I'd be there several times a week, and twice on Sunday!

It's roughly 30 minutes for me to get there from my house but with my work schedule I havent always had time to get there when sun is up. It's literally 5minutes from brothers house and he regularly takes his boys down there to play around. So i Would ask my brother to get me a bucketful whenever he could and would pick through the buckets he collected. Him not being as interested in rocks as me he would just shovel gravel in until filled bucket. I would find the occasional interesting rock or two but 95% was not worth tumbling. I had seen txrockhunter threads of his finds in san Jacinto river so I knew better stuff could be found. But Wasnt until my work schedule changed a bit and allowed me to spend an hour or two picking thru the gravel bars myself that I realized just how good the rock picking is there. Needless to say, I try to take advantage of anytime I can go. And find just about any reason to visit with brother and family lol

Wow, I wish my river rocks looked like those. So many great variations and colors. Very much looking forward to the final results.
