I believe it's a mature deer mouse. I thought maybe the other two were young rats, but they are not ugly enough.
I'd say you have 2 different types of mice... no rats. I *think* that's good news?

OK, I was going on the ID of a professional. I have caught 10 mature rats in live traps. 6 what the professional ID'd as baby rats in my dog food bin.

That certainly is an abundance of rodents. Last fall I caught 11 -- or was it 13? in the house. This year so far, only one... wonder if there aren't any or if they are getting smarter? All of them were deer mice or white-footed mice - they are very similar. Yours is a deer mouse or possibly a white-footed mouse. But certainly a mouse. I'm a little worried about your professional.

So am I, considering he is the best in the area. Came highly recommended by some friends.
I have no experience with rats prior to this, only mice. Never heard of a white footed or deer mouse before. The one he ID's as a rat, looks like a smaller version of the 6-8" rats I have been catching. He asked that I take photos of everything I catch while he is gone. Send them to him. I also need to let him know the trap location.
Received an email today from him. He dubbed me the rat queen. Said I was the first female, living alone, he has worked with that was willing to remove traps with rats in them. Then wait for the rats to die, remove them and re-bait the traps.
Dunno how I feel about being called a rat queen. Just doing what I have to do.

Back in the late 70's I used to call my sister "Queen Willard" because she had hamsters. I'll be having Thanksgiving dinner with her tomorrow and will casually call her that and see what happens. Wish me luck.

Post update on the reaction. Unfortunately the two hour drive to her place got a little too sporty with the winter storm that hit Utah and Wyoming so we didn't get there. I'll have to try again later. Had a foot of fresh snow this morning and it's starting again.
