RickB it is a lovely plant. I think we have about six. I like that the leaves look like they've been tucked in here and there. Even when there are no flowers, the leaves turn purple.

Pat our Loropetalum is running a little behind yours this year. I did trim it last fall so the blooms are looking denser this spring. You can't see it, but there is a mailbox sticking out from the other side. Hope the bees don't get the mail lady. That stuff is going crazy in Napa at the moment. I've seeing it everywhere.

The wildflowers have been popping up in the yard. Wild violets circled this statue years ago and keep coming back each year. Don't know what the white ones are but small patches appear each spring. I mow the grass around them.

Do the white ones have pink stripes? If so, they are Spring Beauties.

@hummingbird stone might have to change her name to Crotalaria cunninghamii stone. Those are so cool!
I probably would have a hard time pronouncing it, though.

I probably would have a hard time pronouncing it, though. Could you pronounce Vince's name the one in ancient Mayan?

Been having a pollen storm here in SC the past couple of days. Here's a photo of my neighbor's car with pollen and flower petals from her Bradford Pear tree. Should get some rain today to help wash it away. 70 degrees for the low this morning. fernwood Beth, thanks for the ID on my wildflowers (Spring Beauties). They come up each spring but I never knew their name. RickB

My Mom loved the Spring Beauties. I was unable to transplant some on the 1/2 acre on my property that was dedicated to them. My Mom left about 1/2 acre of the 3 acre yard filled with Spring Beauties. I continued this when I moved back there. My sale/move from that property was dedicated to getting only essential needs. I also left yellow Ladys Slippers, Dogtooth Violet, Ginseng, Golden Seal, and many other rare plants. Now looking for some to plant on my current property.

I am still slowly going through boxes and other things from my move. The last items arrived in 2019. I moved in late 2015. Never know what I will find, as I have forgotten what was in some containers. Boxes were completely labeled with contents. Opened this metal case today and was happy. Some books that are very special to me. My college diploma, HS diploma, some award plaques. Photo shows only the top layer of 5. Brought the case in house.

The plat book is extra special. My G-Grandfather was a well known surveyor. This was his pocket plat book. Gates County was formed from part of Lafayette County (name changed later) in about 1902. The new County was named Gates, after a well known politician/elected official promised a lot of $ if the County was named for him. He did not fulfill his promise. The Counties name was changed within 2 years. I scanned every page in the plat book many years ago. Have that on a CD in my safe.

Wine lovers rejoice - we have bud break in Sonoma! This is in the Carneros region of Sonoma County which is kind of surprising because Carneros gets a healthy dose of marine influence and tends to stay on the cool side. Central Sonoma valley didn't seem to be participating in the fun yet, and Napa Valley is being stubborn like a petulant child.
