Got to go hounding today, found a couple of Fairburns that I'll post tomorrow. Oh, and 3 of these...
OH CRAP!
My wife keeps telling me I need to get some Snake Gaiters for going out hounding. I keep telling her I need to just keep my eyes and ears open...
Did they rattle? Supposedly there have been quite a few rattlers that are breeding in our area where their tail muscles have atrophied and they don't rattle.
The last one I ran into didn't rattle and I stepped within three feet of it - never even saw it. It was in the Black Hills - north of Edgemont - just on the outside of a cabin I was working at. It finally started rattling when I was "relocating" it.

This one didn't rattle at first, but another one about 2 feet from me in another hole did after it hissed...scared the crap out of me, I didn't see it...

Yeah, he takes a few more risks than I would.
He really wasn't trying to get bit.
I remember the first time I told him that I came across a snake out there and he asked if I killed it. I told him no and he asked me if I thought the rattlesnake would return the favor if I came across it again.
Probably not.

Rhododendrons are the state flowers of Washington. 👍🏻
I'm not too old yet that I can't learn something new! I did not know it is the state flower of Washington.
I always thought that rhodendrons and azaleas were the same thing. Not so! Did a little Googling, and found this out:
Are azaleas and rhododendrons the same? Flowers — Azaleas have tubular or funnel-shaped flowers. Rhododendron flowers tend to be bell-shaped. Azaleas have one flower per stem but the shrub produces so many stems that the shrub appears covered in blossoms. Rhododendron flowers grow in round clusters at the ends of branches.
I do know that azaleas like slightly acidic soil, the alkaline soil in Cali, not so much.
A fiery pink potted azalea on my Dad's front porch. I had to tone down the pink color, so brilliant, it was hard to look at.
