I just want to wrap this year up with good news for the Mohs
6 weeks ago I was full of grief about thousand dollar bad judgment on a used car purchase.
I just needed dependable wheels gets me to back and forth to work at the jungle. It was crucial to the mohs to accomplish that and work himself out of a hole
Well the car broke bad a day before I started. It was panic. Psychologically, mohsrally, economically. The jungle will fire you immediately if your a no show.
uuuuuggggghhhhhhhhhhh indeed!

Short story. Everything worked out fine in my convoluted existence. I borrowed my landlord/pals car and kicked it at that jungle A couple weeks later I got the car fixed rather inexpensively Its great ride. Its not like I bought complete Junker and got completely, stupidly taken. I mean.... its got Bose stereo and the refrigeration works. Actually all the power accessories work. It was a well taken care of car. A 1999 Infiniti I 30 Limited. Nice secure crafted lux ride! I just put to much faith in young fast talking kid who I figured would be honest with the ol’mohs. Hope the kid isn’t doing this for a living. But ya know… when you’re young in fast moving scamming world its hard to see clearly. So here I be on Christmas Day taking selfies at Papago Park...

Good deal! I take it that it was NOT a broken timing chain after all?

right on Eric
Yeah I drove the car early in the morning to the most respectable auto mechanics in Phoenix.
They were busy & I was in the panic zone. I talk ed the counter guy > He to came out to diagnose the vehicle. He turned over the engine and quickly said ( or i misheard )
Timing Chain It will be a thousands dollar fix.
Now he might have just said: Timing But I heard the two words
Anyway the car was sputtering and using up a ridiculous amount of gasoline. Gasoline was pouring out of the exhaust pipe It was un drive able-- as is I was crushed.

Turns out that that the problem was permanently open fuel injector> Cylinder 6
The mechanic who fixed it told me-- when he diagnosed it on the scope -- That the car had lots of problem. There were 9 problem codes.
If he could fix it - he suggested that I sale it. After a relatively inexpensive fix ( of which I tipped him really well- which is paying way off) he told me to KEEP the CAR!
The engine is strong. It does have a bad compression one of the cylinders but I been getting 18 miles to a gallon, Not bad …

Does it just so happen that #6 is the one with "bad" compression? And what is the compression of the "bad" cylinder?
18mpg is decent for a 3 liter in the city.

good question I'm not sure but I assume it is #6
I do recall the mechanic when he diagnosed it saying #1 & #6 cylinder were bad compression
originally he thought it was some computer controlled gizmo that was bad a 300 dollar part but was just the fuel injector so I'm way ahead...

only thing I'm sure of is if I get another 1000 miles out of this car I've broken even and on the road relatively speaking...

That is excellent my friend, it's great to have your own wheels. If it runs smooth I would not worry about the compression, it may improve on it's own after it runs a while. A little rust on the cylinder bore from a period of non-use can give a misleading compression reading, and after a few hours running and polishing it's self may be right back up where it should be. Fuel flooding the cylinder can also lower the compression by washing the oil off of the piston rings and cylinder wall, until the injector problem was fixed. This is a great story, I'm happy it turned out so positive for you with this car

as to the divinities well they play loaded dice with me
