I have one of those, a relic from a time when oxy was prescribed for treatment of my sleep apnia. When it was no longer needed the rental company simply didn't picking it up so it's gathering dust. I'd never thought of using it for torch work. Do you folks have any links describing how one would be used and hooked up? TIA.

All I know at this point is it's relatively easy and you can buy the parts, if needed, at the place that sells the used ones, like for glass. My friend had to do it and go from UK to Euro fittings, pretty sure that's what she said. Anyway, it should be easier here.

To add a little more I use the smiths little torch and also have a B bottle of Acetylene I use when I need more heat. I have a 40 cu ft bottle and it will last me several years. Bottle cost about 100 and refill around 30 bucks. I would think a 20 cu ft would last a year or more. Do you mean on oxy or acetylene? I do have a little bottle of acyl. I use oxygen and propane and what I call a plumbers torch which air/acetylene.

Does a jewelers air/acet scream like the b-tank turbo torches do?

The torch I have now is acyl and air. I have to replace it, so I am going to get the little torch.

The “Turbo Torches” in my trade, the air swirl makes a high pitched squeal. They require earplugs.

I've had my oxygen concentrator for over a year. I went from Acetylene/Air to a Smith little torch.
I have purchased several now for friends. I've found most of them on local Facebook sales groups or a local thrift store. I've paid between %0 - $60 each. Lots of people just want to get rid of them.
It costs about $8 for the fittings to connect it to your Oxy hose on the torch. Lynn

Thanks for starting this thread, Tela! I have a oxy/act little torch a friend gave to me and I haven't used it yet. I need to check with the insurance company to see what they'll allow in the house. Same friend also gave me another little torch that's still in the box and I would rather use propane than acetylene in the house because it's cleaner.
Here's a video on (toward the middle) showing how to set up the oxygen concentrator for a torch gemfeller :

I watched her shut her big oxy tank off an then tried to light the torch. She said. It must be out of gas. And kept moving.

I had watched that video earlier today. I think she did a good job! But as I watched her “open” that tank I was smiling wondering how it was going to work. But it was out of gas. I mean.... hard for the gas to get out. Reminded me how my days go many times.
Like today had a braze joint leaking... was gonna go over it with flux coated 50% silver. Had it all ready to go. But then I grabbed a 15% stick. And my customer said. “Weren’t you going to use that white one?” And I said. “It’s been a long week.”

Every time I see this subject I kick myself in the a$$... I was at my local scrap metal place digging for treasure one day when a van for a local home healthcare store pulled in. He proceeded to unload at least a dozen of these concentrators. I had read a little about them being used for silver work & thought about grabbing one...but didn't... 35¢ per pound is what I would've paid... Ugh

Well watched the video and went to Paige Tools and ordered up a set of tips and adapter for my Little Torch. Will let you know what I think. Might look for a concentrator for a back up or vice versa.
