Hello everyone!
I've fairly recently found a passion for lapidary.
Been using a 2lb rotary tumbler and a dremel with diamond to shape and find away the bits I don't want to keep, then using 120 grit sand paper to gently shape it and get it ready for 220 grit in the tumbler.
I've been running a batch for about 4 weeks now from just in the rotary tumbler. 3 weeks at 80 grit. I noticed the importance of knowing the hardness as some stones ate up 2-3 of some others... Oops!
Anywho, I'm looking into a budget friendly table top grinder. I've seen the jooltool which I would love but it's a bit out of my price range at this point.
I really like agates with lots of transparency like dentritic moss agate, Botswana. Mexican Crazy lace is by far my favourite stone but it's impossible to find in the U.K. I also really like ritulated quartz and rose quartz.

I noticed the importance of knowing the hardness as some stones ate up 2-3 of some others... Oops! I learned that lesson with my first tumble, too! I had heard of Mohs before getting into rocks... as a special tissue-sparing surgical procedure. Welcome from Montana!
