Do we know yet if this is considered a loan, a gift, or taxable income? When I was reading about the bill yesterday, it "wasn't clear" in the bill if we would be responsible for repayment when we file 2020 taxes.
Would be a bit of a d!(% move to have us repay them.

I’ve already spent a portion of mine. Bought a new shotgun, just in case we need to step up and defend ourselves if there is civil unrest. Here it is:

The first Americans to get relief payments from the government under the coronavirus legislation signed into law last month won't see the money until at least the week of April 13, according to new estimates from the Trump administration provided to House Democrats.
About three weeks after those [direct] deposits go out, the IRS will start issuing paper checks, most likely the week of May 4, according to the memo. The office that issues paper checks can process about 5 million a week, so it could take 20 weeks — nearly five months — to get them all out.
The office will process paper checks for the lowest-income Americans first.

Front o' the line treatment . . . how sweet it is. What exactly do you suggest to make distribution "fair" ? Seems the only way would be to mail paper checks to everyone this causing payments to arrive much later than 3 weeks for EVERYONE. Perfect example of how socialism fails... no way to lift everyone up to front of the line and receive payments as quick as possible...instead, make so everyone gets mailed check and everyone suffers the same. And at what point do people assume personal responsibility for not having a bank account? Can get direct deposit sent to prepaid cards picked up at Walgreens or any other major retailer for literally $10. So no excuse not to have one.

I know I'm glad I got front of the line privileges. Using direct deposit just makes sense.
Frankly, I think the IRS needs to hire more people to get the paper checks out quicker. People need that money.

Plenty of TP, no toenail clippers. You put a lot of faith in a toenail clipper. I'm thinking an angle grinder might be a better tool option for that monstrosity.

Many who will be receiving checks do not file income taxes. Thus, the IRS has no direct deposit info for them.
Many who normally are not required to file a tax return -- including low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, some veterans, people with disabilities or retirees -- will need to file a simple tax return to receive the payment, the IRS said. Further info on how to do this is said to be available in the near future.
Those receiving Social Security will have the money direct deposited.
