Howdy folks, I am excited for this post as it is my first real post; not just oooohhing and awwwwhing. This is a 'trip report' because this find is extremely easy to locate and is a bit of an oddity. My wife and I were cruising north along highway 128, just outside of Moab and I saw a pullout. A fan of pullouts along rivers, we stopped. At LEAST an hour had passed with me wandering up and down, this way and that, until I stumbled upon a pile of rocks that REALLY looked out of place. The great part of hounding river banks is that it is a puzzle as to where the rocks came from half the time. What caught my eye first was a distinctly cut/polished surface, all shiny and pretty. Next thing I know, I'm staring at a pile that must be 8' across! I grabbed a few hoping to learn what they are and hopefully where I could find more. We were there just this last November, so, go find it!! The view looking to the northwest from the pullout: THE PILE: many thanks go to whomever left these here!! Now for the goodies. I would like to what these are and where I may find them. Rock 1. Rock 2. Rock 3. Rock 4. Rock 5. Rock 6. Rock 7. Rock 8. Many thanks - Bob

What a wonderful find. There is someone on the RTH Facebook page who leaves random bunches of rocks across the country. He is an OTR truck driver.

Not sure, but looks to me like some of that is coprolite. What a cool find. Someone had to hump all those out there just for you to find.

If not Coprolite maybe a gizzard stone or a “heart of stone” with the main valve at the bottom and a lot of Cholesterol leading to a hardening of the arteries

39.9816253, -112.0650644 Start here and drop down to the SE. Lots of stuff. Bingo! I had been scouring the Lynndyl quadrangle for different types of limestone and zeroed in on these two locations for something else as I could see exposed rock from G.E. Do you know anything about the circular formations I have highlighted? They do not look totally natural; I was wondering if they may be from the mining days.....The most southerly appears to turn into an old road....the other, to the north looks like an overgrown road. Both nearly complete circles..... This area may be my next day road trip. hmmmmm, the photo upload button is gone.

bobk for some unknown reason, when you are quoting someone, the photo upload button goes missing. If you return and “edit” the post, the upload button is there.

Old mining road I'm sure. Lots of lime. Most of the roads on Google earth are more like game trails anymore.
