Greetings Rockers!
In a couple hours I'm going to pick up a Highland Park B26 wet belt sander. It has a belt on one side and a buffing pad on the other.
This unit is missing the buffer shroud. Does anybody have one of these shrouds laying around? I think it's the same shroud used on the B series combo units.
Have any of you used a B26 sander? I'm thinking of replacing the buffer with a diamond lap.

How funny, I just picked one up over the weekend. I got it rewired and changed the foam on the bottom wheel, need to get some belts ordered today. I am eager to hear any feedback on other people who are currently using one as well. tim

I have some slabs with bad saw marks. I would like to salvage and maybe polish them on this machine. I expect I will need a range of belt grits, starting around 100 grit and going up to ?? How fine do I need to go before moving to a polishing wheel? What range belts would you want to have, to clean up slabs and polish them? Thanks in advance for your thoughts Glen

I was using 100, 220 then 400 but found i got just as good of reslts by just skipping the 220.. Good luck!

Nice!!!! Looks in great shape other then the missing shroud for the polishing head. I have been playing with mine the last few days, I ordered belts from 100-1000, as Woodman stated, there is a close to polish after the 400. I ordered my belts from Lapidary Mart, it is the first time I ordered from them and recommend them. Good price, fast delivery and several emails on updates of shipments. 5-Stars. www.lapidarymart.com/collections/sanding-belts?custom=SandingTim

Greetings Everyone, I would appreciate hearing your opinion on belts for my B26 belt sander. A good deal on diamond belts is about $140 each. I can get SIC (silicon Carbide) belts for about $15 each. I know diamond will outlast SIC, but how much? I can almost get 10 Sic belts for the price of one diamond belt. Any thoughts or opinions?
Another thought.... Does anyone know if a spent belt can be re-coated with a diamond slurry? I know this is done with wheels but I don't know if it can be done to belts. The resin would have to be pretty flexible. Again, I would very much appreciate your thoughts and comments.
Thanks Glen
