I have 5 tumblers...2 x 12 lb Thumler rotaries, 3 X 3 lb rotaries (one Lortone and a double Thumler), a UV10 Thumler vibe and a small computer cooling fan. All of them are plugged into a power bar. I have a power monitor gadget inline with the power bar and it's set to give a running dollar total of power used since I plugged it in (Dec 26 2019). Today, 3 months later it's reading $52.51 (Canadian dollars). That's $210/year which is kind of a surprise to me. The 4 rotaries and cooling fan run 24/7 and the vibe is on and off. I used the Dec 2019 local power rates...the rates change monthly so the dollar number is only ballpark especially considering there are tile saws, Dremel drills and whatever else not on the power bar. Anyways not a big deal as my tumbling obsession costs a fraction of my former obsession (drag racing) but visitors sometimes ask how much power the tumblers use and I already had the gadget so now I can give them an answer. Mostly trivia but might be of interest to some...

I have 2 Loretone Tumblers, a QT66 and a 3A, when they are both running they use 75 watts total. After 30 days that is a total of 55 Kilowatthours. Here in North Alabama power is cheap at 10 cents per Killowatthour. So that 55 kilowatthours costs me $5.50 a month or $66.oo a year.

Husband asked me last weekend how expensive it was to run my tumblers. And by ask, I mean he told he it must cost quite a bit. We have mostly separate finances (no shared accounts), and I pay for electricity/power. I told him I hadn't seen any noticeable increase in the power bill.
I run a Lortone 33B and a 1# hobby tumbler. I'm not sure, but somebody once said the Lortone 33B runs 36 watts, and while I can't find information about my small tumbler, a similar Nat Geo tumbler is quote at 33 watts. So 69 watts to run both. Running 24/7, that's 49680 watt-hours for a 30 day period, or I'll just round up to 50 kWh. My last bill cycle, we used 1111 kWh. So clearly we use much more energy than my tumblers. Husband's computer (he built his own desktop made for heavy gaming) probably uses more energy. If that runs optimistically at 500 watts (I just googled; I have no idea), then working from home = 40+ hrs for work and probably an additional 15-20 hrs for gaming. It's on all the time, but actual usage will depend on what he does. If we just take this conservatively and estimate an average of 8 hours/day drawing 500 watts, we get 4 kWh daily, which is 120 kWh during the month, and is much higher than my usage. I should tell him that for every hour he games, it costs me as much as every 7-8 hours I tumble :'D
From the rates quoted at the first of the month, our overall charge for electricity is $0.116218 per kWh, so my tumblers only cost an additional $5.81. Husband's 120 kWh is an additional $13.95. TV running at 8 hrs/day is $15.12. I'm starting to think our primary electricity-draw, minus the annoying baseboard heat, is our water heater. I'm kind of tired of paying over $130 a month for an apartment.

Here in North Alabama power is cheap at 10 cents per Killowatthour. That 10¢/kWh, is that the advertised rate or the what you actually pay rate? Try (monthly bill)/kWh and see what you come up with. My current electric bill lists a rate of 9.414¢/kWh but by the time it hits the mailbox, I’m on the hook for 25.7¢ per.

If your bill is like mine, you'll have a supply rate AND a delivery rate, plus taxes on both. My bill also has a simple $4/mo "residential charge" which is independent of energy usage and probably covers the monthly maintenance (billing, online services, meter reading, etc). Back when I also had gas, that was another different charge from the same company on the same bill. My current residence is electric only.
