So this is what DH spends his time on- among other bizarre hobby things.
His latest freaking Frankenstein mod. This creates a static charge on a piece to disperse fake grass in the upright position.

I have one of those, static grass applicator. Haven't used yet... it sits and waits among many things. For things like this, I'd maybe just have some attach to glue in a mound or flat covering. Having it stand up should be cool. Some year, been a long while since trying.

Could you show a photo of it making the grass? New to me.

Could you show a photo of it making the grass? New to me. You buy little static grass and this allows it to stand up via static electricity and be glued in place that way. To sprinkle it on the glue. Sorta difference like this of the flat vs upright tufts.

This was made from a bug zapper.

Here's some pix Pat . He just finished. The glue is still wet. I don't know if you can tell, but it looks real realistic in person.
This bright green splotch is the static grass.
This is the side view and height.
This is another one. The grass only sticks where there is glue. (This is on the top of a pill bottle.)
