Depending on the epoxy used you should be able to get it off with some heat, like a blow dryer. For early glue-ups a lot of knife makers use superglue because it will release when heated slightly. My advice to you would be to look at some of the bladesmiths on youtube, Green beetle, Big Dog forge, and Walter Sorrels in particular ans see how they shape their scales. There is a video of a guy making a knife with urbanite handles that turned out really pretty but i don't recall the channel

I tried everything I could think of and couldn't get the side of. So I re-glued the side that came off and we shall see.
