My first serious tumbling attempt. Pic 1 is the rough, pic 2 is the same type of stone after stage 1. Using a rotary tumbler. The stones came in a mix, though, so not quite sure what type they are... Comments and advice are welcome! Thanks! Rough
I hope I did that right. If not, any help would be appreciated!

That is a beautiful translucent blue. If I had to guess I would wonder if it is dyed quartz.

Thank you! It's amazing isn't it? I love that color. Dyed quartz is certainly a possibility. It came in the Madagascar mix from Gemsbymail. Mostly this first batch is just so I can learn how... ultimately I'd like to be able to sell the stones I tumble, but that's a LONG way in the future LOL

Hi Djsparkles You are going to love rock tumbling! It's exciting throwing the rough material in and then getting treasures at the end Your blue stone looks very much like blue apatite. It's a softer stone than jaspers and agates at 6 to 6.5 Mohs. I purchased some from gemsbymail but haven't tumbled it yet. Looking forward to seeing your results.

You will change your tumbling method 26 times before you start settling on a regular procedure.

I'm sure I will LOL I'm loving this already. Batch is almost ready to come out of stage 2, I think. I checked it today and pulled all the tiny stones and flakes I think another day or two and they'll be ready for the next stage Pics when they come out! Oh and did I mention this batch is all uncut? Just as nature left them LOL Cutting is next for me

The first batch is the Slowest Make sure you go for a full week for each step after Stage 1 Leave all the small stones and flakes in there. They will help polishing the pits and crevices in the rocks

Those rocks are gorgeous! If that's Blue Apatite, I'm going to have to find some to tumble!

Madman, there are links to the pics in my first post... first one is the rough, the second is after stage one... that's all I've accomplished so far. Hoping to finish Stage 2 today. I'll post more when it's done
