Yippee I made it back home in time to make a cab for the contest!! I'm really struggling with photography but here it is (for now), I'll keep my fingers crossed for better pictures tomorrow, I'd love to suggest that a video clipbe added to the contest rules?
This is Parcelas Agate or Purple Passion Agate, cut in a straight topped low dome shield/badge shape. It's my first cab in almost two months since I made the orbed OJ for a previous contest, and it posed a couple problems, firstly it undercuts in the gold mossy areas so I decided to ditch the angled girdle that I typically put on my cabs. Second, apparently my 8,000 polishing pad has a contaminant on it, I had to go back to the 1200 and the 3000 TWICE UGH, before I realized what the issue was. Next time around I went straight from 3 to 14,000. I think the polish could be better but I don't have time to fix up a new 8000 pad. Photography is killing me which isn't normal! I generally always use the mid morning light from my big kitchen window but today it's mid afternoon, and the front yard and indoor pics just weren't good at all. I went to the back deck and I'm happy with the video at least. I feel like I'm complaining but the rules said to tell about any problems
So this is it unless you see another post with fresher photography over the next couple of days. It sure felt good to get back to cutting.
Beautiful cabochon from an excellent example of parcelas agate!
Well thanks everyone, I will step down for a month now, we do have Plume agate but not anywhere as good as I have seen posted on here. On second thoughts, maybe I will cut one just to boost numbers, not a chance of getting a vote though.
Congratulations pauls that’s a nice looking cab and the color is awesome Great job
Any agate is fun to cut and polish, I would post some pictures of the stuff I have finished but unable to post pictures nor can I add any posts also have a sweet geode I recently cut. So I put this up to see if I can add to profile nothing else will.
