Okay absolute noob question. What's the difference between Tigereye and Jasper?
Enquiring minds want to know...

Tiger eye has chatoyancy (a band of bright reflective light caused by aligned imperfections in the stone). Jasper is opaque. Pictured below: Tiger Eye Left, Tiger Jasper Right.

Thank you!
I've about 2# of red tigereye so I was curious if I could tumble with jasper. Probably not a good idea LOL
Quick response, I LOVE you guys!

I think you could run them together, I have many times. Check your batch every week or so and when they are properly shaped pull them out and proceed to the next step. The jasper may have to be left in the step for a bit longer but this is normal tumbling practice. Not all stones in the mix have identical Mohs hardness ratings.
FYI - Red Tigereye is just the heated version of the normal yellow tigereye. This is just a wee bit of trivia while we are on the subject. Green and Blue are some other popular Tigereye colors but getting it is a secret and if I told you how to do I'd have to . . .
