I found these very interesting rocks in a box labeled agates at the local rock store. The navy blue and slightly purple color is what attracted me to them. I found a total of four of them in the boxes. They are all navy blue drifting towards purple with the white bands and Crystal vugs. Several of them are encrusted with what looks like Marine fossils. I was originally going to slab the stones but the fossils are so interesting I hate to cut them. They feel like agate material and steel won't scratch them. one of the shop owners told me that most of their material comes from collections. The general look and color. Here are the fossils. I've never seen anything like them before. Numerous Google searches turned up no real matches. Seeing marine fossils on agate are very odd to me. Has anyone seen something like this before?

Thanks and good idea. I didn't even think about the fact that they could be beach rocks with modern weathered shells. I just assumed they were fossils because of they way they appeared embedded. I wonder if they could be Newport Blues? They look more similar than most pictures I've looked at.

That white stuff in the second picture almost kinda looks like the beginning of a coral layer is it real rough or smooth to the touch

Could it be a slag glass? There are blues with nice lines. I'm sure that distinction could be figured with a hardness check

Thanks for identifying the shells dreamrocks. The outside is rough like the crust of an agate or flint nodule. Sort of chalky. The inside is waxy. I never thought of slag glass. Does slag have a normal hardness for glass? This stuff scratches bottle glass but isn't scratched by it. Here's a few more pics. The color is a dark navy blue that doesn't show up well in the pictures.

I think your most recent pics show it as an agate better now. Not a glass

I think I found an ID on these guys. I was watching a MeMiner video this week and he was tumbling some white and black skin agates. The black skinned ones looked exactly like what I have. They even had the same odd texture on the crust but just didn't have the seashells. Now that I know it's not some ultra-rare rock, I'm going to chop some of them up and throw them into the Tumbler. Thanks greig!
