Found this last week out at Railroad Buttes. Would love to know what this is. I've found some smaller pieces of the same type of rock, but this is the biggest one I've seen from out there...

That red is beautiful. I wonder how those two rocks ended up in it.

Yeah, jasper for me. Check hardness - for jasper it should be around 6,5-7 in Mosh scale (it will scratch glass).

She asked what animal this bloody heart came out of?!?! I didn't think it looked like that at all...until she asked that! Still hungry? LOL

I would like to see a fresh break on that. My guess is that it is not jasper but a rhyolite with a lot of hematite. the color is so bright though. If it was a rhyolite that would explain the granite xenoliths
