so the other day I was going thru my daily routine of checking craigslist for lapidary equipment and for the first time ever there was a local post for a genie cab machine, lortone trim saw and dop pot for $900(way out of my budget). the owner had passed away and his son was selling it all together but no mention of any rocks. so I emailed him expressing my condolences for his loss and that while I couldnt afford the equipment listed for sale I was interested in any unfinished rocks he may want to sell. He replied that he didnt think there was much rocks that he had seen. but he asked me to make an offer on the equipment and any rocks he finds. I didnt have half of his asking price and didnt want to offend him so I didnt reply at first. cpl days later and the item was still on craigslist so I figured the worst he could do is say no. so I emailed him my offer of $400 and let him know that's all I could afford and that it's much less than what he was asking and what the equipment was worth. much to my surprise and excitement he accepted my offer. this morning when I went to pick the items up he gave me everything lapidary related. templates, tumbler, wire wrapping tools and supplies, jewelry findings, tumbling grits, dressing sticks, dop pots, wax and cpl bins of slabs and rough rocks! I dont know how worn the wheels are or arent but everything runs great. excited to learn how to properly cab. tho my dremel has a special place in my heart i will be retiring it as soon as I get up to speed on the genie. heres some pics of what I got for my $400. Nice, you got a great deal. Just curious, this sale wasn't off of 290 and Antoine was it? I was at one there on Thursday. Bought a few rocks and about 30 pounds of mixed grit and polish. The rocks included about 14 pounds of Cookes Peak Carnelian(all small) and one 14 pound Baker Ranch Thunderegg.

That guy would like the fact that someone has his hobby stuff and will continue to love and create beauty with it... ya know, that's exactly what his son told me and why he was happy to sell it to me for the low price.

Wow, that's a score. It wont take long to get up to speed. You will find it heaps easier and quicker than the Dremel.

You would not guess this if you went by the volume of cabs coming from oldschoolrocker and Mike. Lol Yeah... send the Genie here, wouldn’t want to slow you down.
