Michael, That's magnificent! I'm so happy for you and can't wait to see what you make with the new equipment. Congratulations. Thanks Randy! I almost didnt reply back with my offer because I thought for sure he would reject it. like Gretzky said "you miss 100% of the shots you dont take"

A win-win-win. You are happy, the son is happy, and I'm sure his dad is happy, knowing that you are going to make use of his tools. Congratulations on the find, and the great deal his son gave you. Your just can't ask for more. Now you will be busier!

OK, so my next thought is do you have enough slabs, rough, whatever, to keep those wheels spinning?

Wow, that's a score. It wont take long to get up to speed. You will find it heaps easier and quicker than the Dremel. i sure hope its quicker, if its easier then that's a bonus! I'll do myself a favor and not make a comment that suggests it is quicker or easier Very nice score, can't wait to see what a pro dremel user can do with it.

OK, so my next thought is do you have enough slabs, rough, whatever, to keep those wheels spinning? can you ever have enough? lol but I'm pretty well stocked. got good amt of rough and now have good amt of slabs. also have probably 60 preforms and another 150 or more dremel cabs that just need sanding and polishing. have bad habit of always wanting to cut new preforms before I have worked even half of preforms from previous time.

hey, dont put that kind of pressure on me lol. but yeah, the thing about dremel cabs I think is that ppls expectations arent as high as if using cabbing machine and can get away with some things that real cabbers cant. hopefully il be a quick learner

Congrats on the wonderful buy! You'll be cabbing up a storm on the Genie in no time.
May I just suggest one thing. If you don't know how long that Genie has been sitting dormant, it would be a good idea to change out the capacitor on the motor with a new one. If it hasn't been sitting without being used, you're golden, but the capacitor is known to go out and burn up the motor if it's been between 1-2 years of non-use. Happened to both Vince and me on our used Genies.

Looks to me like a great deal, enough to keep you busy for quite a while. One thing to watch with the Genie, sometimes after they have set for 6 months or so the capacitor goes out and needs replaced, mine was about $6. If the motor buzzes instead of starting, or heats up really fast when running, that's generally the problem. The motors run fairly hot in normal operation, but it takes several minutes to get to temp. If the cap. is bad it will heat to more than a normal temperature in just a couple minutes. I had to replace the cap. on ours right after we bought it [used]. It is located under the motor inside the stand where the switch is. I know of another party who bought a Genie that had set for a couple years, didn't pay attention to the motor heating rapidly, and burned it up, bad capacitor. Any competent electric shop can check them. Sorry hummingbirdstones, I didn't look close enough before writing, didn't mean to jump your comment.

thank you for the tip! in think I'd better be on the safe side and change it out. the seller did say that his dad had been thru chemo so very possible it sat for some time.

What a great deal!!!!! That genie doesn't look very used. The wheels still have a lot of life, too. I'm really happy for you!
