My guess is that is too soft to cut. I am thinking Calcite or possibly Selenite.

Yep it's looks like calcite. As always with rock identification try to check hardness. If it's about 3 in Mosh scale it's probably calcite. To be sure if you have smaller or uglier piece of this mineral drop on it some vinegar - if you see bubbles it's calcite. About cutting... well. It's possible, but not recommended - for me those pieces have too good crystals to cut they.

I agree, those crystals around coin are very Calcite looking.
