Your new set up sounds great for working with diverse material. I'm using a one size fits all approach which has limitations.
I started with a two wheel 8 inch machine and wanted to go all diamond so I bought a Genie. I added new wheels to my 8 inch machine and used it for everything through pre polishing and polishing. 8 inch machines cut faster and the soft wheels are wider. This year, I needed to replace some wheels and it is a pain on my 8 inch machine. I went back to my Genie and just used the 8 inch machine for sanding. I bought a right side arbor for my Genie and put a Top 80 wheel on it. It was so aggressive that it cut as fast or faster than my 8 inch 80. I also do more work and spend more time on my top 80 and older DP 80 than I previously did. When I started out, I would wear out the soft 220/280 wheels because I spent a lot of time there. Now the 80 grit is my work horse. .
I expect you will keep on experimenting until you have your ideal set up.

Sweet setup. In my opinion, it's not really possible to have too many options, the trick is figuring out which ones work best for each material.

About to retire? It looks like your "work" is just getting started! That is one sweet setup! Overboard? No way! You've given yourself so many possibilities and options now.

"He who dies with the most toys, wins". I wish you a happy and long retirement. Nothing wrong with having too many quality tools.

The right side arbor comes with the Genie. I bought an extra right side arbor when my left side got stuck. It is unstuck now. The right side spins of so easily. I don't know why someone doesn't make a three wheel cabbing machine with swappable arbors because of the smaller footprint. The only thing on the left side is the belt for the pump. My belt broke and I use aquarium pumps. I have one Genie tray on my 8 inch machine and move the other one from the left side to the right of the Genie along with the sprayer heads. On the right side, I start with trim saw attachment, then the aggressive 80 arbor and then a 325, 5,000 and 14,000. When I'm done with the 325, I put in clean water for the 5,000 and 14,000. I have extra wheels on the right side arbor, but generally just use on. 80 aggressive, 80, 220 hard, 280 soft, 325 soft, 600 1200, 3000, 14000, 100k diamond paste on canvas pad. I spend about 75% of the time on the two 80 grit wheels.

One day my actual job will ease up and allow me the time to work for fun! Sorry...I had to re-read your original post and THEN realized it was the machine being retired...not you! In that case, get back to work so you can pay for this darn thing! LOL And as far as the "dying with the most toys" comment by greig ...you're just getting a head start on it!
