I have mentioned before that I keep a few rocks from every batch to go into my personal collection. If I had to guess I would say there are about 40-50 pounds that have made the cut out of about 1,200 pounds of finished product. Some make the cut based on being flawless specimens and some make the cut based on pattern and eye appeal or even just rarity of the material. I want to photograph a bunch of them to create a really cool album so as I get them done I'll also try to post them here. Thunder egg slice with water level agate inside Botswana agate Turkish stick agate Brazilian agate Unknown agate Bahia agate Flint ridge material with dendrites Unknown agate inside Unknown agate outside Unknown jasper Thanks for looking Chuck

2nd to last. The white dots do it for me The two halves right above that are the same rock showing the inside. I only bought that one stone at a rock show to see what was inside. I dont remember what it was called but that single rock in the rough was something like $12 or I would have bought more. I asked the seller and he had no idea what the inside might look like. Chuck

Excellent! Chuck, would you ID them for us? I tried but I will warn you that I am much better at tumbling stones then I am at identifying them. Some of the rocks in this collection I am working on photographing are going to be ones I tumbled 8-10 years ago. Chuck

The the outside of the second to last one looks a lot like some OJ I've seen, but with that agate inside, IDK. Whatever it is, some has probably been sold as OJ. The last one definitely looks like some Cali brecciated material. The yellows in it remind of both Lavic Siding and Black Butte material (I know those are far apart, but both have that seismically punished looked). I'm leaning toward Lavic, even though I've never actually held any.... Awesome pieces, by the way.

It was sold as agate but it was not a name that I was familiar with so it is something off the wall. Even at over $10 a rock I wish I would have bought more. Chuck

Glad you showed the cut one so we could see the inside. Interesting stuff.

Chuck these are absolutely stunning. Thank you SO much for taking the time to show these...it gives a clear picture (pun intended) on what I'm striving toward in my tumbling! (Eventually!)

Well this should be an interesting series. I’m excited to see the best of the best. This project has a dual purpose. As I sort them for taking photo's it allows me to cull some that I thought were great a few years ago to make room for newer and better stuff. Like yourself I keep a limited number of rocks on display in the main living area. One wicker basket full and one wooden bowl full. Chuck
