I ran across some pictures of Russia's Uralkali Sylvinite Mine yesterday. I thought it was both fascinating and beautiful.

Sylvinite - Wikipedia
Sylvinite is a sedimentary rock made of a mechanical mixture of the minerals sylvite (KCl, or potassium chloride) and halite (NaCl, or sodium chloride). Sylvinite is the most important source for the production of potash in North America, Russia and the UK.

In other words, an ancient lake bed. The patterns formed as the minerals precipitated out are informative and delightful!

You're not alone Jason. Dave influenced me too. My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Dave and some of his family last June and they are a good crowd to run with.

If we were able to carry the love and tolerance shown here into the world as a whole and get anyone to follow the example set, who knows what could be born from that?
