Here is a cab that I made with some beautiful Picture Jasper from RWA3006 (Randy). I know what I see as a landscape with tree, clouds or mountains. Hope you see it too. The only issue I had was photographing it without getting reflections because it polished up so nice. Rough Preform Finished Cab Side View of Dome Top

Great entries so far. Wish I could play this time -- I have some killer material -- but my new workshop here in AZ looks like a disaster scene with equipment and slabs strewn everywhere. It'll probably be some months before I'm able to get organized and start cutting again but it's great to see such fine work and so many new participants. Keep on cuttin'!

Looks great. I see the tree moved and grew some in final product

Looks great. I see the tree moved and grew some in final product Yes, it did reshape itself, and got smaller. But, I’m happy it’s still there. I really like how it turned out. Thanks for the 👍 likes everyone. I must have taken 30 photos of that cab in all sorts of directions, even tried a photo box that I had. There was so much blinding glare, it kept interfering with the natural patterns.

Cutting it close, but I got mine done. This is Deer Sky jasper and the piece I found that called to me was a long skinny slab with an awesome scene in it. After mulling around what shape I wanted to use that would utilize the largest amount of the scene that I could, I came up with this. I forgot to take a picture with something to show size in it, but the finished cab is 3-3/4" from point to point and 1" at the widest part across.
I think this may be the longest cab I ever cut and it was a PITA trying to shape it on the Genie wheels. I kept hitting an edge of the next wheel, so I went to the flat lap to grind it to shape and finished it on the Genie.
Slab:
Perform (kind of):
Cab Front:
Editing to add another picture that shows the blue part of the cab a little better without as much reflection:
Side View:
What looks like scratches on the bottom right of the side view are light reflections. I had to go check when I saw the picture to make sure there weren't scratches I had missed.

Fantastic job by everyone this month! I know there's still a couple days left, but it's coming down to the wire. I don't know if I'm going to get mine done...but I'm going to try. oldschoolrocker - That's one heck of an offering as an additional prize! I should have mentioned this a long time ago. agatewhisperer - That is an amazing entry for your first contest entry! That is a definite stunner! Tommy - Fantastic job on this one! MsAli - I was hoping you'd figure out how to get the tornado slabbed out...but this is one heckuva cab too! NDK - Nate, my heart went you to you on this one! I know in the food shows I watch like Guys Grocery Games, they'd call this a "deconstructed" cab. greig - I think this is a fantastic cab for your second one ever on the flat lap! 2muchgrit - That is a fantastic cab - and your first post! I think the tree turned into some campfire smoke...which works fantastic! oldschoolrocker - None of my Flower of Peach looks like that! LOL - That's a fantastic looking cab! brotherbill - I love that shape you chose on this one! betojdesigns - I see a mountain range on a gorgeous cab! And yes, I've taken 30-40 pics of cabs...just to get ONE good one! LOL hummingbirdstones - Robin, I can see why you left this one as long as you did! Fantastic job on that long shape!

Last minute "hail mary" thrown out here! Ok, I wasn't sure if I was going to get this one done in time. I started working on it yesterday morning and the stone decided it wasn't really all that close with the dop stick...so it chose to go through a trial separation and flew off the dop stick. I thought they could stand a little more "together time", so I had to glue 'em back together again and wait until today to finish the cab. LOL I did not get a shot of this in the slab, but I did remember to take a shot of the preform before I started grinding...I get so excited to get going on these sometimes! LOL I took a closeup shot of the black spots to show they're actually part of the pattern in the rock. Owyhee Picture Jasper that measures 1.5"x0.75".

I found this agate in Circle T Rock Shop on my Texas trip and thought it fit the contest really well. It would be from Needle Peak. I think I got the effect I was hoping for.

Nice work to all who entered. I didn’t have time this month, although I had few candidate pieces. As usual, I don’t not relish having to pick just one. Probably one of the landscape ones, though. I’m pretty sure I can narrow it down that far. 😁

My entry is Wave Dolomite and was made from an end cut leftover from slicing the larger rock. When choosing which cabs to work on, I include shaped flats in the vibe so that I can see if I like the final polish. If the polish turns out well, I’ll go back and make a final piece out of it. I included a picture of one of the larger slices that came from the same material as my entry. Front: For Scale: Side Profile: Original Blank (Flat front and back): A sample of the material this cab was an end-cut from:

So it has come to my attention that I got the poll settings wrong and the current results are displayed full time and not hidden until you vote. The only way to fix this is to nuke the poll and restart it. It's early enough that I'm leaning towards starting it over ... what do we think. rockjunquie what do you think?
