Haven’t heard any nice aggies yet. The sound of the laser hitting rocks reveals knowledge such as the hardness of the targets being investigated.
"If we tap on a surface that is hard, we will not hear the same sound as when we fire on a surface that is soft," explained Naomi Murdoch, from the National Higher French Institute of Aeronautics and Space, in Toulouse.
"Take for example chalk and marble. These two materials have an identical chemical composition (calcium carbonate), but very different physical properties."

Aliens have supposedly been probing Earth for years. We are now the aliens with a Mars Prober.

I would love to have Mars gold, I would turn it into Mars Bars.

Perseverance captured this photo the other day. It looks like a Martian rainbow but the atmosphere should be too thin and dry for that to be possible. Other ideas include a dust-bow or simply something caused by the lens itself. Regardless of what caused it, I think it is still pretty cool!

Some of the new photos are spectacular. One shows a layered formation, similar to those found on Earth. According to NASA, many rocks in a specific area are to be analyzed in about 2 weeks.

Anxiously awaiting the Ingenuity flight. It's been rescheduled (again) for no earlier than the 14th. I sure hope it goes well.

Not a trip to Mars, but - "One lucky winner of this reality TV show will win a trip to the International Space Station". www.cnet.com/news/one-winner-of-this-reality-tv-show-will-win-a-trip-to-the-iss/"Production company Space Hero said it plans to send the champion of a new show to the International Space Station for 10 days. The mission is slated for 2023." "The contestants will go through rigorous training and be tested for their physical, mental and emotional strength, according to Deadline. The competition is rumored to culminate in a live episode that's broadcast around the world so viewers can vote for who they want to win. The show will then document the winner's journey during takeoff and at the ISS, concluding with their return home."

I am enjoying all the photos, including a "find the meteorite" one. Some of the rocks remind me of natural copper "fingers" in their shapes.

There goes the neighborhood as the Mars Perseverance Rover has company. China has landed on Mars. They become the third country after the US and Russia to land there.
Edit: Shouldn't take very long for colorized Martian rocks to begin appearing on the market.
