Nice job tumbling! I love that quartz with the schorl in it-good contrast! I tumbled some rose quartz recently and my gf thought I did it wrong because there were a lot of internal fractures (relative to my other types of quartz), but, those fractures were there from the start. I think the internal fractures can add 'character'...of course if I wanted clear pieces-I would tumble glass...

The quartz with schorl tourmaline are something special. Is your pink mystery rock feldspar?

Gorgeous! I'm partial to that horn coral! I keep finding a fair amount of it around here (mostly over at Railroad Buttes, SD). I keep thinking I need to tumble or cab some of the pieces. Thanks for the inspiration!

Another vote for the tourmaline in quartz! I also like this little guy: I like those too! I call them stripers. I have several rough pieces of this that I will start adding to mixes now that I see how they come out.

Thanks for the inspiration! thank you! The horn coral is probably my favorite piece out of this batch. I live in a area with nearly all igneous rock so having some self collected agate/chalcedony type stuff is cool and it being a fossil (which are non existent in my neck of the woods) is a big factor in favoring it.

Nice stones! I really like the horn coral and the tourmaline in quartz. Great job. big thanks! I grab every piece of the tourmaline quartz I see when I’m out hunting. I found about 3 or 4 small ones yesterday.

Some of these have a nice iridescent effect which doesn’t show in photos. Some of the clearer ones without fractures look transparent until you put them next to an actual transparent regular quartz. In a side by side comparison the rose ones almost glow sorta like a moonstone.

there is a location about 3 miles from my moms property: the Southern Pacific Silica Quarry which is well known for its astierated quartz but I haven’t been there in several years. The rose pieces I have look more like the are related to the internal fractures on the really pink pieces, almost like looking at a oil slick. The clearer moonstoney ones I will take a closer look at. They for sure glow. When I find a rough piece on the ground I can tell it’s one of them from several feet away. They have a waxy look in the rough.
