I love the patterning on those rocks! Is that tiger/hawk eye in the lower portion of your third photo? Some closeups of the banding on those would be cool!

Great looking tumbles right there! It's hard to choose just one, but the standout to me is that piece in the bottom left in the second photo! Definitely not pointing out flaws...but do you look at some of these and know you would have trimmed a few places with the "new toy" before starting them tumbling? With some rocks that I tumble, I think they need it...but with some others I don't mind the flaws as I think they might lose some of their character by altering them. For me, it's a tough call sometimes...

Not one piece of tigereye in any of these pics. Just a bunch of mylonized granites, some Agates and a piece of Coquina/devil's toenails as far as I can tell.

The rocks in the first picture sure are interesting. They really look great together with all of those stripes and swirls. The rest are great, too!

I don't know if I would have cut some of these beforehand or not. I knew going in the holes were deep and that was fine, part of the appeal, really. I have a pile of stones I haven't put in the tumbler because they have bad concave spots. That's not an absolute statement though, some still find their way in the barrel, depends on what mindset I'm in at that particular moment. I'll definitely be doing a bit more preshaping from here on out though.

Actually a few blue tiger's eye. Mylonized granite... Hrmmm I think I like this. Seems to be fitting the bill on some of what I find. These are catching my eye as these doppelganger pet wood, but not quite. Attractive material but doesn't take a uniform polish... One of the "colors" of the bands likes to undercut, but it's not necessarily obvious coming out of stage 1, but rears its head in the polish. Not sure on the coquina/devil's toenail though. Which one(s) are you seeing? Still learning on IDing material in this area.

LOL - I just did a cleanout on the rotary and there was one in particular that has a couple holes in it, but I pulled it because there is some amazing banding that I don't want to lose any more than what I have already...so it'll go into the vibe when there's enough to move on.

Did you collect these rocks yourself? Are they local to your area? I am always curious as to what material comes from our counties and states. Coquina makes me think of Florida as I collected it near St. Augustine, but the others rocks would not be from there. Thanks for posting. Always interesting to see what other people are tumbling and their results.

Always interesting to see what other people are tumbling and their results. With the exception of the blue tiger's eye and Botswana agates, all of these are self-collected. These come from WA, where a couple are from Damon Point and Whidbey Island, and the rest from SW WA. I lived in FL for about 11 years (Tampa) - bout the only rocks there are landscaping material. I didn't make it to the beach very often, but only managed to find shells, not much for rocks. Closeups of the 3 blue tiger's eye. I'm not convinced I ended up with the best material, but that's okay, there's another pound of it rolling that looks really nice. The 2 Botswana agates. First one has some nice parallax/shadow agate phenomenon going on, but that's hard to pick up on a still image. A pretty piece of jasper from Damon Point. And then... something somethings

I think the patterns on the first two of the tiger eye are pretty neat: the third appears more of what I am used to. I am looking forward to seeing your next set.

Almost missed this batch! Really interesting and cool patterns you got going on there. The hawk/tigereye is an odd material and something seems a bit off with the first ones (still amazing stones). The last one is more like what it usually looks like, but still very cool stones (I cabbed some tigereye and it is just a PITA to work with) I really like your local collected rocks! Best I can come up with is some grey chert as we are mostly in limestone/ sandstone. We do have some glacial eradicates but most of those are granites and schists. Those Bots are wonderful. I love the parallex they sometimes display (on my second ever tumble I had one display parallex and was so excited to show it off, only to discover it is impossible to photo lol)
