Gorgeous stone, stephan ! Everyone seems to be conquering this challenge rather well, even though it's out of most folks' wheelhouse. Kudos to everyone so far! Thanks, Robin. For me, it's not so much of a new skill, as it is flexing an atrophied muscle. I learned to cab both ways at the club, and actually used to prefer this. Then this group really seemed to be steering people toward the girdle (I'm guessing it's because we have a fair number of wrappers), so I hadn't done it for a while. It came back fairly quickly. Probably helped that I stayed away from free-forming it. That can be kind of a bugger to do.

You and orrum are gonna get my head so swelled up I won't fit through that double door into the shop. I was just lucky to find the coral slab in a box.

Awesome amy, NDK! That is the most delicious grape color. That may be the highest dome I have ever seen!

OK here is my entry - Carey Plume agate. I'm undecided if my entry really fits the parameters of the theme - I'm leaning towards not. I put a lot of time into it but in my opinion the result is sloppy and I'm not real happy with it. I thought I could get away with my usual style but taken on down to the bottom with no girdle, and about half way through it sunk in why this style lends itself to a higher dome. With the high dome the bottom edge comes closer to maybe an 80 degree angle where my thin cab has about a 20 degree angle and became quite sharp and inconsistent. When I tried to give it a backside bevel to prevent chipping it the result was it looks like a girdle unless you look real close at the angle. Before I decide what to do with this puppy I will probably clean up my wavy edges with the addition of a girdle. Lessons learned for sure thanks hummingbirdstones2 for the push. Mission accomplished on getting us out of our comfort zones
