I bought a 45lb box of grit. Got it in 4 days. Attributing it to it was already bagged and boxed, slap a shipping label on it and done.

Hi Dan, we are with the Conejo Club in Ventura County but one of our members works in Fountain Valley and picks stuff up for us. Good prices and nice people in person but their service is hit or miss. One of our founding members knew the original owner back when it was wholesale only. I have been there twice to drop off wheels to be resurfaced.

I saw the guy who is selling for them at the PowWow and looked him up at Kino in Tucson because he had sold out on the textured 80 grit wheel I wanted and no one else had one I liked. He and his wife(?) dissed a dealer friend of mine before I got away, if he didn't already have my money I would have not picked up anything from them. To specify, the guy selling for them is not J-Bros, they have supposedly stopped doing shows and he is now their rep at shows. On the other hand, I'm wondering why they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel, seemingly, to get this guy.

Par for the course! I feel bad because I have told people to deal with them in person and not order things. The market in this hobby is just not that big. I wish someone on the list could just match some of their prices and take them out of it. I have no idea how they can be so cheap on somethings and still make it. Now that they are using an outside Rep that will only add to their cost and their overhead can not be that low given where they are lociated in CA. I sure miss John He was a pleasure to deal with and would do the best he could on price to help us all out. Someone want to learn how to resurface wheels?

I have dealt with JB a few times and am thinking of not doing so again. I tend to buy 100lbs or so of grit at a time. With the first order a year or more ago, I included a note to not process the order until shipping cost was confirmed, because there was some confusion about how much it would be according the their website vs the cart. They shipped anyway w/o confirming with me which didn't make me happy at all. On April 17, I had another order for lots of large grit. They responded may be delayed until mid-June due to COVID or delays or something like that. I was fine with that, and said no problem. I inquired on June 4 as to how it was going, just to check. No response for three weeks. Inquired again on June 25 and got a response that due to port congestion might be available next week. I cancelled the order and said the reason was lack of communication. I'm not upset but just feel twice is enough for me. An update on this. I've been having a hard time in the last 6 months getting grit larger than 80. My normal supplier has been low and KN hasn't had their usual flat rate sales on it. So I gave JB another try, and bought 90lbs of 46 grit. All went fine. Their communication was excellent and it arrived fine and earlier than expected too. In fact, their communication was a bit above average. Maybe they are aware of criticisms. It was packaged uniquely. The 2 flat rate boxes were damaged, a couple of corners were broken out, but there was no leakage which was a pleasant surprise. The grit was in a tough white plastic bag made of cross woven strips. And inside that, was another clear plastic bag though very flimsy. But some care had obviously been taken. It looked to me like that white bag of woven strips was good enough to not leak, as if it gets pressed by a heated roller or something like that when manufactured. Since the bag inside that was too flimsy to lift, they must have put the flimsy plastic bag inside the tough white plastic bag, before pouring in the grit, just as one extra layer of leak proofing which impressed me.

There is a rock shop in Utah doing it and getting good reviews. They want to do 2 at a time to cover postage but I only have one core right now in 6 inch.

He has the Earth Brite rock shop in Caldwell ID, don't know why I was thinking Utah. They can mail their wheels to Earth Brite Rock Shop 3506 Cleveland Boulevard Caldwell Idaho 83605. My phone number is 208-866-3741 have them give me their complete name mailing address and email because I will be invoicing each one after I finish the wheels before I ship them back. I use PayPal. All of the wheels need to be scrubbed in warm water or with a scrub brush to get any loose grit off of the wheels and then dried before shipping to me. They also need to be marked as to the grit size on each wheel. $40 4 inch. $45 6 inch. $50 8 inch. Price includes me shipping them back. I prefer at least two wheels to help defer the shipping cost.

Can we end this thread? The original poster's complaint was addressed within 11 days of the original post but because the subject line is Negative, every post since that 11 day hiatus results in a message saying I should have listened - that banner would appear even if the poster, and many did, cited postive experiences with Johnson Brothers. How about a banner that says: "my experience with Johnson Bros" so that folks searching for both sides of the picture would be tempted to read further. Just hoping for clarity.

It would be up to the Original Poster to edit this title if he so desires. As far as ending it... I don't see that this issue is dire enough for us to intercede and shut down free speech. Both positive and negative comments have been made. Anyone interested enough, can bring their common sense and make up their own minds about JB. I think a fair picture has been painted.

I'm tagging the OP. If he wants to he can edit the title to say something like "Johnson Brothers Review Thread". standles

There are at least 7 active JB review threads not including those for resurfacing.

I ordered a dozen, 8x12x3/4 Riker mount boxes on Friday. They were packed on Monday and they will be mailed USPS. Same state so I expect I will have them by the weekend. $66 for the boxes, $23.43 for shipping and $5.12 sales tax. Under $8 a box delivered. I've ordered these from them before and they are the same as any Riker boxes I've bought from other sources.
Lowest price on Amazon $10 plus tax. Lowest price on ebay $8.33 plus tax when buying 24.

Rikers arrived on Thursday. I needed to replace my 325 6 inch soft wheel. One of the issues I had with JB was shipping cost. Wheels now ship free. $69.95 plus tax, so I ordered.
Ordered Sunday, shipping label Monday.
