That's super nice! My great great grandparents were rockhounds and built a fireplace with thndereggs and agates set into it. It made it into the newspaper. We still have the newsclip.
looks like you have real good slabbing material in the trailer!
You would think so Bob, but all this material is rather ugly on the inside. It looks like dark dirt with no colors, patterns or high silicification. Being that the exterior is handsome I use it for book ends, novelties and landscaping rock. It came from the southwest corner of Utah and was picked up in the 1950's.

Here's some more of the same batch we saved from being wasted.

Well since I don't Have Randy's pile to cut on, I put a piece of tan oak from McDermitt on the drag saw. got to strap it down and do a bit of alignment before starting to cut it!
When I was a kid I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons, now that I'm an old fossil I look forward to Saturday pet wood photos.

. Nice wood! Is it opalized?
Probably not, but it's very glassy. I find the colors and translucence to be a bit intoxicating.

I was going to ask the same question!

It reminds me of some futuristic monolith at the beginning of a movie.

Found this garnaly chunk in cent4ral Oregon. It is a bit over 10 inches wide and I have not a clue about what type of wood it was. I do think it is root material.
