Hi all! I’m excited to learn all kinds of new stuff! I don’t actually have a tumbler, but I love to cut and polish rocks that I find on the ground all around NYC and incorporate them into my artwork, and I know there are tons of knowledgeable folks around these parts who I can learn from! I’m also incredibly jazzed to start figuring out how to actually identify the various random and beautiful rocks that I find.
I look forward to getting to know everybody!

Welcome from Virginia. I think you are the first here to rock hound in NYC. Interested to see what you've picked up.

Welcome to the forum from South Dakota! Hint: Neither asphalt nor concrete are considered "rock-finds"! (Just teasing. )

Welcome to the forum from South Dakota! Hint: Neither asphalt nor concrete are considered "rock-finds"! (Just teasing. ) 😁 actually, I’ve been working on making polished pieces from sliced concrete, and they’re super fun! We don’t have a whole ton of interesting rocks here in NYC, but we make our own concretions 😀 [insert joke about jumping to concretions]

Helloooo! I’m originally from Seattle, and while I love my NYC home, I’ll always have that unparalleled Washington state beauty in my heart!

Welcome from the other end of the state! Hiya! I need to explore more of New York State! The only place in western New York I’ve been to is Chautauqua, which is a super cool area!

Welcome from Virginia. I think you are the first here to rock hound in NYC. Interested to see what you've picked up. I’ll have to post some photos! There are a lot of boring rocks here sadly, mocking me from various tree pits, but I’ve found some lovely things, and now I even have my own secret gravel parking lot in Queens, where for some unknown reason there are some seriously beautiful and varied rocks to be found!

Welcome from Northern Arizona! Hello! I’ve never been to Arizona, and I really should visit some day! A place totally unlike anywhere I’ve ever been in weather, culture, landscape, architecture... definitely a place to discover!

Heck, people seem to love Puddingstones polished...which is natures' concrete as far as I'm concerned...so why not polished concrete!
