You may think I've gone psycho, but I think I have figured it out.
For thirty years I've been trying to explain Robert's Rift.
What is so special about the rift? Well, it is at least 30 miles long and possibly 3000 feet deep, and surrounded along it's length with huge rocks blown up to the surface from way down below including fossils from the Hermosa Group Deposits! Also, something leached the iron from the sandstone on both sides of the fracture. What could do all that? A huge underground steam explosion!

It is intimately connected to the crater, but the asteroid alone could not have possibly account for it.
A brief search implies Roberts Rift may be unique in all the world.

Roberts Rift was not a slow pulling apart. It was an intense shoving together, then rapid rebound!
The KEY to understanding Roberts Rift is to realize that at the time of the Upheaval Impact the asteroid was still EMBEDDED in the HUGE COMET!
What all happened 145 - 138 Million years ago?
1. the compression of a trough from Northwestern Canada to Central Utah, a thousand feet of soil being removed from Utah to Wyoming. Deposit of Gold, Copper, Vanadium, Uranium, Tantalum, Niobium.
2. the "Seveir Orogeny" Thrust Faults toward the southwest.
3. the Upheaval Dome Asteroid Impact - ground waves making possible arches and natural bridges. Shock waves collapsing voids and forcing water out of underground reservoirs. Dissolved iron being forced out of solution. Shock waves also rapidly turning on and off piezoelectric effects in sand quartz crystals.
4. Shock waves building sand towers.
5. Roberts Rift.
6. More Thrust Faults toward the South West. Soil blasted away from west Texas.
7. Soil removed down to ancient basement of Mexico while the Jurassic layers in the Gulf of Mexico were shoved down several miles, then much of Texas was shoved into the Gulf of Mexico, leaving the deepest part where the thrust stopped.
More anomalies between there and the Amazon Basin.
Five 100 foot high Basalt waves break loose and rock across Brazil and Uruguay.
And finally, Africa broke away from South America.
