Thank you all for the well wishes and the prayers. It was a lot less involved than I had thought it would be and was more like a minor procedure than a surgery which was a pleasant surprise. It went well according to the doctor and now I'm on to the hard part of healing up. I'm on an antibiotic and steroids plus rinsing my sinuses three times a day. I've only had to take pain medications twice so I'm glad of that. It seems like it has gotten worse but I'm told that a sign that it is healing. Today has actually been the worst day since the procedure with a bit more pain but it's not unbearable. Still getting stuffy nose but less of the yucky taste in my mouth so that is a good thing. The paper the doctor's office gave me said it could take 5-6 weeks to completely heal but I'm hoping for it to get better sooner. I have a follow up appointment on Thursday. I was going to reply to each of you individually but I'm just not feeling up to doing that, sorry. No, Ed, I didn't have any polyps just infection and a bit of fungus that was plugging the entrance to the cavities making them not to be able to drain correctly and trapping the infection inside. Stephan, yep, we're getting old...lol. Hope you are healing up well from your surgery. Glad to hear you're on the mend, drocknut! Hope you heal up real quick and can breath again.

Ha ha Robin Yeah that breathing stuff is important Although there are times when I wonder why I’m breathing Try to keep that to minimum And not be able to breath is the most scary thing I seem to have problem holding my breath So going under water really gives me pause And few years ago I had a panic attack First time and hope THE last! Geez I awoke and could not breathe! That went on for an hour I finally called 9-11 Went out to wait Soon as I heard the sirens My panic ended It was really strange Anyway the fire guys monitored me said I was getting plenty of oxygen No need to go the hospital Never occurred again And hope it never does!!! Thanks for reading Hope it was breath of fresh air

I’m glad it went well, and wishing you a speedier-than-predicted recovery. Thanks for the reminder that times appears to move forward, despite our wishes. yeah, I’m back in the saddle (literally... commuting by bike).

drocknut I'm happy to hear it was less involved than what you worried it would be. Sounds unpleasant, but manageable, which is good. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Diane - I'm glad it went well! Here's hoping the recovery goes quickly for you. When my wife starts getting a little stuffy, out comes the humidifier. She puts some Frankincense and Myrrh into the water and runs it while we're sleeping.

I just told my wife about this conversation...she held up her hand, which has numerous Black Hills Gold rings on several fingers. She said, "Got it covered!" LOL

Just giving another update on my recovery. I had a follow up appointment on Thursday and all is going well with the healing. It just takes time. I'm still having some pain and bending over is not a good thing but I am breathing better and having less congestion so that's good. Thanks to all of you for the well wishes and prayers. I appreciate it.

Glad to hear all is well. I need to have something similar done, but have been holding off. It would require my not being able to work or do farm chores for 2 weeks+ after surgery. Then many restrictions after that. I need to have sinus cavities cleared and some reconstructive surgery done to bones near sinus cavities.
It would be about a 2-3 month healing process after surgery with many appointments during that time. I would be limited in what I can do or where I can go. it would also effect my vision, hence, no driving. Basically, was told my vision would be very blurred for 1-2 months.
Glad everything worked out well for you.

I'm afraid she might recommend something like that.

fernwood, sounds like you need a more extensive surgery than I had. Mine was just to insert a balloon to open the passages leading to the sinuses from my nose and then cleaning the infection out. It was a rough spell at first but now that it's healing up I'm glad I did it. If your quality of life is being impacted by the problems then I'd say just do it. I know that's a lot of recovery time and lot of hassle but if it fixes the problems it's better than just letting the infections and such stew in your sinuses. Just my 2 cents worth. lookatthat it is worth it to mention problems like that to the doctor. They have all kinds of things they can do to help with sinus problems now and not all of them are extensive surgery. My procedure took maybe an hour and it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be to have it done. I didn't even use all the pain medications I was given.

I didn't even use all the pain medications I was given. Can I have them? JK LOL!!! My stash is dwindling. I always tough it out as well as I can and stash the leftovers for when I can't get any. Pain killers (even for me with my issues) is harder and harder to get.
I'm glad you are happy with the outcome.
