Hey all, Very new to the gemcutting community and hobbyists. I'm from oregon so I've always been fortunate enough to see sunstones and thundereggs and the like my whole life. I've recently become fascinated with Opal, and have decided to take a go at building a cabbing machine. I've talked to some people more engineering minded than me and they think it will be quite easy. However, I'd love to have a chat with someone with more experience as to what that will entail and different struggles/things I may be overlooking.
Anyway thanks for having me!
Much love,
Cornelius

Welcome! A great place to start is the DIY section, which can be found at DIY Thread. For some true inspiration on a DIY camber, take a look at nik's thread which can be found here.

Welcome from Washington. Opal is what got me into lapidary and then into making jewelry. I'd say that if you're "interested" in opal, it sounds like the hook may already be set.

I don't know anything about it but I watched this video a few days ago. You've probably already seen it but I'll put the site anyway.
