Picked this up from my late friend's stash, have several other preforms that I may attempt to tumble. It has 18 faces and measures 3 inches across. It did not come out as well as I hoped. Tumbling large pieces of Obsidian is not as easy as I hoped. No frosting on any of the edges, but just not the polish I would like. Will probably leave as is. Nice tumble. I always struggle to get obsidian to shine.

Looks nice Hank. Recently we have struggled with large pieces of man-made glass very similar to what your obsidian shows. Absolutely no frosting, nice polish, but those larger/flatter surfaces get beat up a bit. Not really a surprise but watched them very closely and would have bet that I had the magic formula.

I know it didn't come out as polished as you would have liked, but that's a really nice piece Henry.

That is still a very cool looking chunk of obsidian! The faceted preform is such a neat shape!

I tried a few times to get a good polish on Obsidian in a rotary tumbler, its shined, but not to my liking! Got to invest in a vibe, man do they take a shine than... I'm still saving up for one, don't want a cheap one either and most are on back order...
