Location unknown. Probably NM or AZ. I forgot where it came from. Pretty hard throughout, say a 7. Would like to know what the maroon areas are. Jasper? Sorry for the somewhat blurry photos, but hope someone can help with an ID. After posting, noticed colors are washed out here. A little darker than appear. Dime for size reference. Thank you.

Could that possibly be pet wood? It looks like wood grain in the first picture right above the dime. It also looks like there is horizontal graining towards the middle of the left side.
Whatever it is, it sure is pretty!

Pretty sure it is chrysocolla, but yes, there is some strange graining in it.

Beth it looks like it could be Parrot Wing Chrysocolla. I believe it comes from Mexico. Not really sure, though. I know it has that green color in it. The reddish brown would be cuprite.

I had a duh moment. Remembered I had purchased some similar material a few years ago. vintage, 1980's. Bag labeled Near Quartzite. I know there is some peacock Chrysocolla to be found in AZ. They look very similar to the above. What do you think? After posting, I noticed that the colors are washed out here. They were fine on my laptop. This piece especially looks almost the same.

Could that be in Rhyolite?
