Beautiful find, congrats!
Crater Lake National Park is on my list of places I’ve got to get back to, very interesting place. Did you get a chance to take the boat ride and hike Wizard Island?

Beautiful find, congrats! Crater Lake National Park is on my list of places I’ve got to get back to, very interesting place. Did you get a chance to take the boat ride and hike Wizard Island? The trail down to the boat ride was closed when we were there. I believe it is open as of now though. That is a really great place to see. We visited Crater Lake some years ago (Sept 1999!), it is beautiful! At the time we were there, there were some wildfires east of the park, so was a little bit smoky in that direction. A couple pictures I took, if you don't mind? This first one was taken from the visitor center, when we first entered the park on the west side. Photo looking into the lake, Wizard Island in center right. Looking downslope into the lake to show the awesome color of the water. Photo taken going down the trail located on the east/northeast side of the lake. We hiked down (the switchbacks, Oh!), down to the lake surface. We saw some huge fish in the water, we had already gotten some fishing licenses in case we decided to try our hands. But we did not bring our gear down with us that first trip! So we hiked back on up that hill, seem to remember it was a bit of a killer grade. We got up the next morning, grabbed our gear, and went back down into the crater. We fished for a bit, but we got no fish. Up the grade one final time. As I recall, I think between the two of us we had just one bite. Oh well. It was beautiful, and I took many (non-digital) photos. These are scans of a few of those photos. This is one of my favorite photos of the trip The boats in the water below look like they are floating in the sky (maybe not as evident as in the original photos, taken with 35mm Kodacolor Print Film, ISA 200/24°). We did not take the boat ride to Wizard Island, or hike the island, but we got to enjoy going up and down that trail to the boat launch four times, lol. Anyone that hasn't been really must put it on their bucket list! Thanks for allowing me to revisit that trip, choochoorocks .

That’s a bummer choochoorocks but it sounds like you had a great vacation anyways. Thanks for the memories Jean rockpickerforever, we were there August 2001. Time does fly.
