Some of these are very interesting. Posting less than half of the wood I "found". If anyone has ID suggestions, please let me know. Love the growth rings and other patterns in this one. This one has a lot of variety. Reminds me of flowing water. Partially translucent. Picture Wood? At first I thought this was a piece of sidewalk chalk sitting on the table. Turns out it is a nice, 4" long stick. The outer areas are very chalky. One end has been face polished.

Cool, I like that limb cast in the last photo. I have never seen one like this before. I could use a fingernail file to easily remove the outer surface.

I wonder if that last one is a fossilized palm root.

I could see that last one (the possible limb cast) producing a series of earrings...

I could see that last one (the possible limb cast) producing a series of earrings... Hmmm. Now I am torn. Slice for earrings, or keep as a specimen. I thought it would be a cool addition to my stash for children's classes. They are always amazed at how a piece of wood or a shell can turn into a "rock".

I think that's a good "hands on" piece for the children.

Those are some really nice looking slabs! I see you've been sourcing most of your awesome rock finds at a yard sale or end of driveway honesty box. This makes me feel like I might have to rethink my hounding technique or come up and take your rock hounding class. I might be doing it wrong. I'm sure the summer will bring you more treasures and I can't wait to see them... good luck!

A little geology, too. Lots of hands on. Admit, I have been pretty lucky this year with yard sales and such.
