Can you help me ID this rock. I am new to rock hounding and still trying to figure things out. I think it is jasper but just wanted to see what you guys think to see if I am on the right track. Thanks. Found in Alberta, Canada.

That's a nice looking orbicular jasper. Not sure about the jasper part, but reasonably sure.

Very cool looking rock. I agree with rockjunquie that it looks like orbicular jasper. It almost looks like Ocean Jasper but that is not found in Canada.

Thanks for your comments. It was a nice surprise to find it. I had another member tell me that it looked like coral. I have found other pieces of fossilized coral close to this piece but they look more like actual coral. I found a piece of agatized baculite about 100 yards away from this stone as well so it is in an area with other marine fossils.

That is an agate not a jasper. The eyes are a result of the grinding off of the botryoidal agate surface. This would be considered an eye agate. since I do not know much about agates in Alberta, I do not know what kind of agate. Eye agate can occur on any type of botryoidal agate.
