Metamorphic?? To me it appears to be a composite of smaller particles that were captured in, or precipitated out of, the golden gravy-colored soup that solidified last. Am I even close? Is there a story to be told?
It's most likely a Canadian gift from the last ice sheet that covered the Seattle area.

So, stephan posted a cab made from some material recently...and other than the colors, the makeup of the rock looks very similar... Here's a picture of a slab of that other material...
