Got a dust storm alert when we got home today, zero visibility. 30 minutes later flood warning. It rained, but fairly light. We'll see in the morning.

mohs found out which of the critter guards over Elizabeths plants were not anchored enough, but other than that uneventful. Oh, and 10 bucks for the car wash a couple days ago down the tubes.

Cool Lee Fingers crossed that car washes are our biggest hassles Hopefully Elizabeth's Miranaga seedling as as grown enough to stand on its own I’m trying to motivate myself To step out & see if the tire pressure is holding!!! All the lllalalantra shops are closed here in gasoline alley. Might be combo of being the 4th and Sunday ? Or maybe they are just tired,,,mostly Luckily the the Q-Trip was close and I bought a can Q-Fix Flat I;m trying to motivate myself to step outside and Will the pressure hold or will I be a more

I remember many similar dust storms when I was a student at the U. of New Mexico, Albuquerque, years ago. As they approached they looked exactly like the storm front in the video. No matter how tightly my dorm windows were sealed the entire room was coated in a layer of dust afterward. I recall stories of motorists who got caught in them having the windward side of their cars essentially "sandblasted" with most of the paint removed. Haven't heard much about similar storms in recent years.

Hey Rick My Mom used tell a story of walking across the street to the neighbor house/ Probably back in 1952 Maybe a 75 yards distance. A dust storm caught her unaware and really impeded her trying to find her way back home. Scared her even Back then as a kid, -and because I had clear open expansive view - I could judge the front of them rolling in. Got another 30 more seconds to seek shelter Ha I wonder if that was the cause of my Moms difficulty? Back then a lot less buildings. Lot more open spaces hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... Luckily with this dew point here - during a hot sweltering day- towards the afternoon the humidity tends to decrease. Makes a big difference! Wonder if you noticed that?

Gotta love the Upper Midwest. Yesterday, the high was 92 degrees. Humidity maxed out at 62%. Heat index of 106. It has been worse, by far. In Winter, we can have temps of -30 and low humidity.
When living in AZ, we loved the temps. The dry heat was something new. Being outside in temps of low 100’s, was no problem. We had a swamp cooler, which was also something new. Never had air conditioning when growing up or in college. Except for in selected college classrooms. The swamp cooler helped with the high temps and low humidity.
Several times, we encountered dust storms while driving between Phoenix and Chinle. Locals had warned us about them. To us, they were like a blizzard, but did more damage to vehicles. We also learned to watch weather conditions in the distance. One time my husband and a friend had taken the toddlers out on motorcycles. They went to a mesa, a few miles away. Everyone was having a blast, until our friend noticed a dust storm coming towards them. Thankfully, they made it back just before the storm hit where we lived. We also learned to seal off the windows in our trailer. To turn the swamp cooler off and put a cover over it when there was the potential for dust storms.
A totally different way of life than Wisconsin.

That interesting Beth I spent a short time in Michigan So I have some idea of the differences Did spend lot of time in Show Low So know that 4 corner area fairly well I like it a lot That whole 4 state block Is well my... home Just watched a you tube tour of downtown Milwaukee Nice! Especially during summer ha But really nice historic clean downtown area And I can tell the people are pretty friendly I actually think the people in Phoenix are pretty friendly But that always on the cusp Guess ya know why I’ve got Wisconsin on my mind! The Bucks are coming at the Sun! I’m hardly any basketball fan But one needs to accentuate the positive Whenever possible …
