Hi everyone! I'm really excited in joining this beautiful forum.
My name is Félix, I'm a third generation tumbler. As in my grandfather used to tumble and collect rocks. And now me and my girlfriend are both taking his hobby with us.
I recently found out the passion to tumble and work with the rocks. At first, we collected them and I helped her with that. And then as more and more rocks came to my eyes. I totally got hooked.
I bought our first ever tumbler which is a National Geographic hobby tumbler. Nothing really crazy, but we didn't know if we were going to like doing this. So now I'm really wondering where my grandfather hid his old tumbler. He gave me his rock grinder at least to work the rocks. So I'm really grateful for that.
I'm currently running some nice agates(don't know their origin) for a second spin in the coarse grit. I'm probably gonna post some pictures of my first stage run of three days. So maybe you guys could help me out in what kind of agates I'm working with. And also help me through this process as well.
Really happy to join you guys! 😁😁

Bonjour et bienvenue. I am in Toronto but originally from the Mont Tremblant area.
First tip: get better polish grit than the one supplied with your Nat Geo tumbler. I highly recommend Rob's video about the Nat Geo tumbler:

I highly recommend Rob's video about the Nat Geo tumbler: Yes! I watched rob's video already and am already on track with some aluminum oxide polish on it's way to my mail box. In rob's video, he says that the silicon carbide grit for stage one and stage two are a good choice from Nat Geo. But I'm going to try and switch to aluminum oxide just like he does in the last two steps.
