I’m new to rock tumbling. Been reading a lot and am going to build a tumbler. Between home and scrap at work and can come with everything I need except the barrels . Ive read about making 6” pvc barrels. Do they need to have some type of paddles in them to help with the tumbling? Are there other inexpensive containers to use? Thanks for any help.

No paddles needed. Doubt there's a diy option cheaper. jamesp is definitely the resident expert on this. Used barrels another way to go if can find em and if can get at good price

Nightowl No need for kickers. Round barrels do fine at 20+ rpm and 3/4 fill.
