The Gem and Mineral Show this weekend went great. Crowd was good both days and folks were spending money. Exceeded my previous best by about 130%!! The new Square Card Reader I bought worked really well. Only one "gift card" credit card that it would not read.
I was a tired puppy when I got home, long weekend. Loading truck, un-loading and setting up friday, breaking down and loading truck Sun evening by myself. Did have a friend who helped me with sales. Plus I am a "how you folks doing today?" guy, must have said that maybe 600 or 700 times or more. I think that helps. About 4 or 5 people who bought Sat and came back on Sun to buy.
Just a couple interesting notes about the Show.
I arranged the tables in a horseshoe format so that no customers came into our space, almost always had 6 feet or more between them and us. Must have used up one decent size container of hand sanitizer between the two of us and also sprayed the tumbles down about every hour with alcohol.
Hot items, Arkansas Quartz, Polished Brazilian halves(with hollow crystal centers), could have sold more if I had them available. Tumbles in general, Tiger Eye and Apache Tears were popular. Pendants were slow until about 2 hours left on Sunday and then sold over 20. My Crystal nightlights almost sold out and Frig Magnets sold just under half of my stock.
There was a young couple admiring all my tumbles I had out and mentioned they had just started tumbling and were using a National Geographic tumbler. They did say they had upgraded their polish and were following the instructions from a Jugglerguy Youtube videos. They were impressed with the detail he put into it. Told them they were on the right track and had as good a guide as they could have found. Good job Rob
There were 2 or 3 Vendors that came by and were impressed by the quality of my Tumbles, and a couple of them bought from me. At the end of the Show one of them came by and bought all my tumble polished Apache Tears. I mentioned to them that I have "polished" my skills by being on this forum and getting a lot of excellent advice and help. So kudos to everyone out here who has posted tumbling methods and tips in the last 5 years, you have all helped me get better.
So I suppose I can go out now and get a couple of six-packs of some high end beer for the frig!!!
