What are these? The seller had pails of them. Said they were used as landscape rocks at the property she recently purchased. She said they were Amethyst, but they look more like smoky quartz or glass to me. I thought the host rock was interesting. All of those pits. Thinking they might be glass applied to man made stone, but not sure. Some of the pieces did not have the translucent gray areas. Just were pitted. The pitted areas are about a 6 hardness. Translucent parts about a 7. Thank you.

#1 looks like Ostracods on chert. I assume #2 is the bottom view of #1 so Ostracods. Looks like limestone that grades into chert.

The quartzy looking stuff kinda looks like a slag but the matrix it’s on doesn’t. Interesting stuff either way.

The quartzy looking stuff kinda looks like a slag but the matrix it’s on doesn’t. Interesting stuff either way. I thought the upper portion kinda looked like slag, too. The matrix does look like Ostracods or where there was once bubbles. Very strange landscape material.
