We had a great time rockhounding with jasoninsd yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a place where almost every rock would take a nice polish. The trick was finding attractive ones. We arrived at the collecting area after a few miles of challenging but fun driving. My wife was squealing a little on some of the 4wd hill climbs. There were a lot of prairie agates and petrified wood. We found an occasional bubblegum agate but no Fairburns. At the end of the day we even got to do a little cattle herding. Jason was very patient with us SD newbies. It was great to meet another RTHer. We hit it off really well. That will be the most memorable day of our vacation. Thanks Jason! PS. My wife says I need to tell everyone that she found the best (?) agate of the day, pictured below. What a great day!

Glad you enjoyed the latest outing by Jason in SD Rockhounding Adventure Tours where our motto is “Adventure and Survival Guaranteed“. Your wife did nice, that should look great all shined up!

Sounds like an awesome time! Great camaraderie and even some decent rocks seems par for Jason’s rockhounding adventures. If it wasn’t a 24-hour drive, I’d happily sign up for the next one!

Brent, I had such a wonderful day yesterday with you guys! You truly are one of RTH's best! I'm not sure what the highlight of the hounding was...Isabelle finding the best finds of the day...or the "cattle wrangling" we had to do at the end of the day - definitely not something I'm likely to forget! LOL

Glad you enjoyed the latest outing by Jason in SD Rockhounding Adventure Tours where our motto is “Adventure and Survival Guaranteed“. Your wife did nice, that should look great all shined up! I think "Mad Badger Lapidary and Hounding Adventures" needs less of a motto...and more of a "Disclaimer"! LOL Disclaimer: Finding adventure is probable...comic relief is likely...and survival rate is around 87.5%! (We're not counting Lucky Larry's "disappearance" in that percentage. He did not tell us he was going to play hide-and-seek while we were out. Plus we still have high hopes we're going to find him...so we don't count him as "lost"...he's just not "found" yet!) LOL Sounds like an awesome time! Great camaraderie and even some decent rocks seems par for Jason’s rockhounding adventures. If it wasn’t a 24-hour drive, I’d happily sign up for the next one! Yeah...but if you think of it as two 12-hour drives, it doesn't sound so bad!

You didn’t ask for a tube trip down the Cheyenne?
